Maryland Governor Wes Moore signed SB 245 in early 2026, an emergency law prohibiting the state, local governments, county sheriffs, and their agencies or employees from entering into 287(g) or other immigration enforcement agreements with the federal government; jurisdictions with existing agreements were required to terminate them immediately.
