Short Description

Passed alongside the Community Trust Act at the close of the 2026 session and signed by Maryland Governor Wes Moore on May 31, 2026, the Maryland Data Privacy Act (HB 711) establishes new rules for how state and local agencies may share Marylanders’ personal information, including restrictions relevant to immigration-enforcement data-sharing that apply broadly, not only to public safety agencies.
