Short Description
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani issued an executive order that includes:
(1) Prohibiting city officials from sharing information collected for city purposes with federal immigration authorities unless required by law;
(2) Directing city agencies 14 days to appoint a privacy officer and take other compliance actions on the above;
(3) Prohibiting the federal government from using city lots for staging areas, processing locations, or operations bases for civil or criminal law enforcement, with certain exceptions;
(4) Establishes the Interagency Response Committee to coordinate and manage policy response across agencies for any crisis in NYC, responsibility for developing and distributing city policy and guidance in preparation and response to crises;
(5) Requires the Office of the Mayor, through the Interagency Response Committee, to develop and disseminate guidance for city officials on encounters with non-local law enforcement
