Short Description

Seattle’s FY2026 budget added $4 million for the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (proposed September 2025 amid growing ICE presence). Roughly half of this funding is used to double the Legal Defense Network’s annual budget (a $1.25 million increase) for deportation representation, with the remainder funding community grants up to $10,000 for grassroots groups (neighborhood alert systems, community aid, rental assistance, food banks) and language-access programs.
