The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Early Childhood and the Governor’s Office, issued non-regulatory guidance on immigration enforcement actions to day care facilities. The guidance includes instructions for how to respond when (1) immigration enforcement requests information from a provider, (2) a child’s caregiver is detained or deported while the child is in care, and (3) immigration enforcement attempt to carry out enforcement action at a day care facility. They also created a template policy for day cares and guidance for immigration enforcement at license exempt child care providers participating in the Child Care Assistance Program.
