Following a citizen-initiated petition, the Bar Harbor Town Council voted 5-1 to adopt an ordinance titled ‘Defining the Relationship Between Town Officials and Federal Immigration Enforcement,’ prohibiting town officials from any relationship with ICE and addressing indirect cooperation not covered by Maine’s statewide LD 1971.
