The Oakland City Council gave final adoption (File 26-0391) to an updated ‘City of Refuge’ ordinance restricting collection of immigration status on city applications, prohibiting city employees and police from asking about or sharing immigration status with ICE, and barring ICE from non-public city facilities without a judicial warrant. Builds on Oakland’s 2019 sanctuary ordinance.
