Short Description

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to end agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection that allowed their officers to train at two local firing ranges, one owned by the county and another owned by the U.S. Navy and leased to the county. The county’s chief administrative officer was directed to terminiate the related county license agreements .

Following the vote, the San Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez announed that she had notificed ICE officials that they would no longer have access to the specified facilities. Martinez refused to issue a similar notice to CBP, stating the community will not be well-served by eliminating CBP’s use of county facilities.
