Short Description
The city council of Lakewood, CO adopted a resolution that directs the city and its city manager to (1) develop and implement a preparedness plan to ensure all city employees know how to respond to federal immigration enforcement actions, (2) provide related trainings to all employees, (3) create an internal committee of subject matter experts from within the Lakewood Police Department to provide regular information to communities about potential enforcement actions in the city, (4) create a website with resources for the public on immigration enforcement concerns, and (5) assess options for a licensing type process by which the city can review and approve any immigration enforcement actions staged on city property prior to the actions taking place.
