Short Description

The Providence City Council amended its Community-Police Relations Act to broaden prohibited cooperation between police and federal immigration authorities, covering newly deputized federal agencies and barring identification verification, translation services, and the establishment of traffic perimeters to assist enforcement. It expanded protected school spaces to include charter schools, preschool, daycare, and after-school programs; required judicial-warrant verification before granting access to schools, courts, and non-public areas; and limited the collection and disclosure of sensitive personal data.
