Short Description

Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson issued a directive to the mayor’s cabinet updating city protocols on federal immigration enforcement that included: (1) Requiring all city departments to identify a department representative on immigration issues and a backup; (2) Requesting all city employees direct federal requests related to immigration enforcement to the Mayor’s Office legal team; (3) Requiring each city department by a set deadline create a plan consistent with this directive regarding federal immigration authority requests and activities on city property and for city data; (4) Requiring all city departments by a set deadline to complete an inventory of data collection, management and sharing practices to limit inadvertent disclosure of information to federal immigration authorities and for city departments to submit a plan to reduce data exposure; (5) Making trainings and guidance available to all city staff on interactions with federal enforcement agencies
