Short Description

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office disabled all six of its Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras after a Skagit County Superior Court ruling on November 6, 2025 found that images collected by Flock cameras are public records subject to disclosure. The sheriff’s office said the ruling threatened public safety by opening the data to anyone, and the move came amid broader Washington concern, documented in an October University of Washington report, that federal immigration authorities had accessed Flock networks across the state. The county’s contract with Flock runs through December 2026, so the camera infrastructure remains installed while the technology stays disabled.
