Short Description

The Montgomery County Council unanimously passed the County Values Act (Bill 3-26), which prohibits civil immigration enforcement activities in county-owned or county-controlled parking lots, garages, and vacant lots. The bill mandates clear signage and staff training at county buildings to ensure judicial-warrant requirements are implemented with fidelity, and establishes an online portal for the public to report unauthorized or harmful immigration enforcement activity, which the County Attorney may use to support enforcement of the law. The County Values Act was one of several immigration-related measures the Council adopted in 2026, following its Trust Act in February and preceding the ICE Out Act in April.
