Short Description
Pittsburgh city councilors passed a bill that bans city employees and contractors from asking about immigration status or disclosing that information about another person unless required by court order. This is the first bill in a package of three bills under consideration to formalize and tighten limits on the city’s role in ICE activity. The other bills under consideration would prohibit civil immigration enforcement activity on city property and create protected community spaces where federal immigration officers would be required to show a judicial warrant in order to enter.
