Short Description

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston signed an executive order directing Denver police to intervene if federal immigration agents use excessive force that causes harm, and stating the city will investigate and prosecute violence, property damage, high-speed chases, and other alleged criminal conduct by immigration enforcement officers. The order also prohibits civil immigration enforcement operations on city owned property. At the same time, the city ended its contract with Flock Safety for license plate readers over concerns about the company’s role in federal immigration enforcement, and the City Council advanced a measure to bar law enforcement from wearing identity-concealing masks.
