Short Description

The San Jose City Council approved a measure to prohibit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from using 11 city garages and parking lots and parking areas of 75 community centers and libraries as stating areas or operational bases for civil immigration enforcement. In October 2025, the San Jose City Council first instructed city staff to inventory public-owned properties that could be utilized by federal enforcement and have the city attorney produce a policy to restrict certain enforcement activities in those locations.
